VETERINARY SURGEONS.

Jim Dash BVetMed, MRCVS. Partner
I qualified at London University in 1970, I worked in a small animal practice in Southampton, worked at the Blue Cross in London then joined this practice in 1975. I became a joint partner in 1980 and I took over sole ownership of the practice in 1999.
On 1st August 2004 Simon and Raymund became Partners in the Practice. This injection of fresh blood will help to maintain St Anne's position as a forward-thinking Practice.

I am a member of the British Veterinary Dental Association and have an interest in teeth.

I have a wife called Wendy, 3 children (eldest, Izzy is a surgeon (human) in Cheltenham, two sons, Sam studying Manderin in Beijing, and Dan a student), two cats called Max and Min, a herd of tortoise, and a snake inherited from my son.

Raymund Bouwman DVM, MRCVS. Partner
I qualified at Utrecht University, The Netherlands in 1992. After having worked for 6 years in a small animal practice in Holland, I moved to Eastbourne and joined the practice in 1998 and became a partner on 1st August 2004.

I have two cats called Ivan and Ruby. Apart from being experienced in all the main areas of small animal medicine I have a special interest in skin problems (dermatology).

Simon DeVile MA Vet MB, CertVR, Cert SAM, MRCVS. Partner
I qualified at Cambridge University in 1991 and joined the practice in 1995 becoming a Partner on 1st August 2004.

I am an RCVS certificate holder in Veterinary Radiology and in Small Animal Medicine and take referrals in diagnostic imaging and small animal medicine.


I am married to Kim and have three children, Jack, Finlay and Sophie. We have a young labrador called George, two cats called Silver and Bryan. I also have two guinea pigs, Katie and Catherine.
In my spare time I enjoy running and cycling on the Downs.

Aled Thomas BVetMed, GPCert(SAP). MRCVS.
I qualified at London University in 2001 and joined the practice in March 2002.

I have a certificate in Small Animal Practice and am keen on all aspects of medicine and surgery. My interests include Rugby (especially following the Welsh rugby team), squash, tennis, DIY and cycling.

I have a cat called Gweni. I married Gemma at Newick Park, Lewes in October this year.

Gemma Hopkins, BVetMed, Cert VC, MRCVS.
I qualified at the Royal Veterinary College in 2003 and worked in a busy small animal practice in Kent before joining St Anne’s in December 2005. I gained by RCVS certificate in Veterinary Cardiology in 2009 and now take referrals in cardiology. My interests include, swimming, running, cycling and retail therapy. Aled and I recently married in October at Newick Park near Lewes. I have a cute rescue cat called Gweni.

Phillip Speer BVetMed, MRCVS.
I qualified at London University in 2001 and joined the practice in April 2002 following 6 months mixed animal practice in Cornwall.

I have an interest in small animal practice with particular interest in medicine

Hetty Pullan BVetMed, GPCert(SAP), MRCVS
I originally achieved an HND in Applied Biology at Southbank Polytechnic before going on to train as a Veterinary Nurse at the Royal Veterinary College (London). I then trained as a vet and qualified from the RVC (London) in 2000.

Initially I worked at the RSPCA, Putney, during the filming of ‘Animal Hospital’ and subsequently went on to a small animal job in North Kent where I worked for over five years before coming to St Anne’s. I passed the General Practice Certificate in Small Animal Practice (GPcert(SAP)) and enjoy all aspects of small animal practice and ophthalmology in particular.

I am married to Mark and have a lovely ex stray cat called Lloyd who suffers with fits but is well controlled with medication. I have recently taken on a black labrador puppy called Isla, and we are enjoying lots of walks on the downs. My outside interests include going to the gym, cycling, horse riding, watching tennis, scuba diving abroad, playing the piano and the flute. I originally came from London but love living on the coast.

VETERINARY NURSES.
I had intended to include all of the pets owned by our nurses until I counted them. They have a multitude of dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, hamsters, chinchillas, tortoises, and bearded dragons. I suppose this is why they like being veterinary nurses!

Helen Overington, RVN, MBVNA. Head Nurse
I joined the practice in 1994 as a trainee and qualified in 1997. I am a volunteer for the British Divers Marine Life Rescue. I have a dog, one cat and chickens, including battery rescues.

Hazel Sheppard, RVN, A1 Assessor, PHC, MBVNA. Deputy Head Nurse
Hazel is in charge of theatre and in-patients. She joined the practice in 1992 and qualified in 1995. She is married with 3 cats, 2 chinchilla's, a hamster, fish and some chickens.

Janine Houghton, RVN, D32/D33 Assessor, VHA PHC, MBVNA. Training Manager
I joined the practice in June 1988 as a trainee veterinary nurse and qualified in 1991. I am married with three daughters. I work part-time assessing the trainees’ portfolios, training and exam preparation and nursing duties. I am a volunteer for the British Divers Marine Life Rescue.

Rebecca Pynn. RVN, ANA, MBVNA
I joined the practice in February 2005 and qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in August 2010, I am also a qualified Animal Nursing Assistant. I have one dog called Brie and two cats called Chanelle and a rescued cat called Sir Henry Gingerloid.

Richard Thompson. RVN
I joined the practice in 2008 as a trainee veterinary nurse having spent several years as a zoo keeper at Drusillas Zoo. In August 2010 I passed my veterinary nursing exams and am now a Registered Veterinary Nurse. I am interested in doing the Advanced Diploma in surgical nursing.

Glynnis Wootton, QVN, MBVNA.
I joined the practice in 1992 and qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in 1995.

I work part-time between the main surgery and Willingdon branch surgery as I also paint and illustrate from home. I live in Willingdon with my boyfriend and our two young children.

I have a rescued cat and 2 rescued rabbits and hope to get a dog next year. I am particularly interested in rabbit welfare as they are a much neglected pet.

Sarah Goodwin, RVN, A1 Assessor, VHA, MBVNA.
I joined the practice in 2000 as a trainee and qualified in 2004. I completed a course in canine behaviour in 2007 and am currently studying for the FAB course ‘Well Cat for Life’ certificate. I am married with 2 daughters and am interested in all things feline. I also help with puppy socialisation classes. I have two cats.

Philip Harris, RVN, A1 Assessor, MBVNA.
I joined the practice in 2000 and qualified in 2004. I qualified as an AI Assessor in May 2007. I have a springer spaniel called Harvey.

Natalie Weston, RVN, MBVNA, Pet Health Counsellor.
I originally joined the practice as a part-time kennel maid in 2002. I started full time as a trainee veterinary nurse and qualified in 2006. I have three rescue cats and a rabbit. I am interested in nurse consultations especially in weight clinics and diabetic clinics.

Nicola Ranger. RVN, MBVNA
I joined the practice in 2005, and passed my final exams becoming a registered Veterinary Nurse in April 2010. I have one old cat who lives with my parents, and a new cat Lola who lives with my boyfriend and I.

Menna Field, RVN, MBVNA.
When I finished school I did voluntary and part-time work at a veterinary practice and Raystede animal sanctuary. I then passed a Diploma in Animal Care with distinction and top student award before joining the practice in August 2003. I am now a registered veterinary nurse. I have two rescued cats, Dylan and Archie, who were abandoned as kittens. I have a real interest in surgical nursing, specifically orthopaedics.

Katie Webb, RVN, MBVNA
Previously to joining St Anne's I did a national Diploma in Animal Management, I was also a zoo keeper at Drusillas for 2 years.

I joined the practice in September 2006 as a trainee veterinary nurse and qualified in 2009.

I have a rabbit called Rascal and a cat called Brian. I married Christopher in May 2011.

Nicole Pescott. RVN, MBVNA
I joined the practice as a trainee veterinary nurse in January 2008, I qualified in October 2010. I have a dog called Cooper and two cats that I have rescued called Dexter and Moomin.

Daniel Goodman. Trainee Veterinary Nurse
I joined the practice in October 2007 as a part-time kennel person. In 2009 I started to train to become a registered veterinary nurse. I have passed both years of theory exams and I'm now studying to take my final practical exams to then be qualified. I have a chocolate labrador called Milo and three cats called Charlie, Millie and Poppy.

Serena Martin-Tudor
Serena completed A levels before joining us in July 2011. She will be starting her Veterinary Nursing course in September 2012. She has a lurcher crossed with a westie called Jock.

Stacey Parker. Trainee Veterinary Nurse
I joined St Anne's Veterinary Group in February 2010.

I did an Animal Nursing Assistant course from September 2010 which I passed with distinction in summer 2011. I started my Veterinary Nursing Course in September 2011.


I have 4 cats and 3 Guinea Pigs.

Alison Hague, Trainee Veterinary Nurse and Part time Receptionist.
I joined the practice in 1986 and work mainly at St Anne’s Road. I am interested in behavioural problems in pets and horses, and hold the BVNA Certificate in Companion Animal Behaviour and the COAPE Advanced Certificate in Companion Animal Psychology. I am involved in wildlife rescue through the British Divers Marine Life Rescue having taken their Marine Mammal Medic course. I originally trained as a graphic designer and since joining St Anne’s have created the practice logo and produce promotional material for the practice. I am married and have two cats and two tortoises.

In September 2010 I started my Veterinary Nursing training. I will still be working on reception at the weekends and will be doing her nursing training during the week.

PRACTICE RECEPTIONISTS.

Cicely Johnson. Receptionist
I joined the practice in 1984 and now work principally at the Langney Surgery.
I am married with four grown-up children. Although I have owned several pets over the years I do not have any at the moment so am enjoying travelling in my spare time. However, I am sure it will not be too long before another cat or two join our household. My son and grandchildren have pets, including a horse. I enjoy my weekly Yoga and Tai Chi classes, my long distance walks and being part of the St Anne’s team.

June Phillips. Receptionist
I joined the practice in 1990 and work at the main surgery. I am married with two grown-up daughters.


I have 2 cats.

Carol O'Driscoll. Receptionist
I joined the practice in 2000 and work principally at the Langney Surgery. I am married with three grown-up children, four dogs, a cat (all rescue) and six chickens. I enjoy doing agility with my dogs and spending time with my granddaughter. My other hobby is horse riding when I get the time.

Katrina Fry. Receptionist
I joined the practice in 2001 and work at the main surgery on dispensary. I have two dogs, three cats, two horses and two rabbits.

Jackie Lucas. Receptionist
I joined the practice in 2002 and work mostly at the Willingdon and Langney surgeries. I am married with a son. We have two dogs, two rescued cats and one rescued guinea pigs

Anna Fairweather. Receptionist
I joined the practice in 2005 and work at the main surgery as a receptionist. I am married with two grow-up children and five dogs. I have an interest in dog obedience and also compete with two of my dogs in agility.

PRACTICE ADMINISTRATION.

Sheila Mace. Financial Administrator
I joined the practice in 1989 as a receptionist but quickly moved to the office where I am now responsible for the financial side of the practice. I have a rescued dog.

Pauline Hollands. Practice Administrator.
I came to the practice in 1988 to run a dog grooming business but moved to the office in 2001 where I am now responsible for customer accounts and secretarial work. I have a dog, a horse, two sheep and aviary birds.

Marylyn Martin
Marylyn joined us in January 2011 taking over Georges job with the cleaning and deliveries.

KENNEL STAFF.

Lawrence Dengate
Lawrence came for work experience in spring 2011 and became our kennel hand in May 2011. He enjoys being part of a local drama society.

Michael Pluck
Michael joined us in August 2009 taking over from Dan as a part time evening kennel person. I have 3 cats and a dog.
