VETERINARY SURGEONS.

Jim Dash BVetMed, MRCVS.
I qualified at London University in 1970, I worked in a small animal practice in Southampton, worked at the Blue Cross in London then joined this practice in 1975. I became a joint partner in 1980 and I took over sole ownership of the practice in 1999. On 1st August 2004 Simon and Raymund became Partners in the Practice. This injection of fresh blood will help to maintain St Anne's position as a forward-thinking Practice. I am a member of the British Veterinary Dental Association and have an interest in teeth. |

Raymund Bouwman DVM, MRCVS.
I qualified at Utrecht University, The Netherlands in 1992. After having worked for 6 years in a small animal practice in Holland, I moved to Eastbourne and joined the practice in 1998 and became a partner on 1st August 2004. I have two dogs, Travis and Ziggy and two cats Ivan and Ruby. Apart from being experienced in all the main areas of small animal medicine I have a special interest in skin problems (dermatology). |

P A Simon DeVile MA Vet MB, CertVR, Cert SAM, MRCVS.
I qualified at Cambridge University in 1991 and joined the practice in 1995 becoming a Partner on 1st August 2004. I am an RCVS certificate holder in Veterinary Radiology and in Small Animal Medicine and take referrals in diagnostic imaging and small animal medicine. I am married to Kim and have three children, Jack, Finlay and Sophie, a dog called Tula and two cats Bryan and Silver. |

Aled Thomas BVetMed, GPCert(SAP). MRCVS.
I qualified at London University in 2001 and joined the practice in March 2002. I have a certificate in Small Animal Practice and am keen on all aspects of medicine and surgery. My interests include Rugby (especially following the Welsh ruby team), squash and cycling. I have a cat called Gabby – she is originally a rescue cat from Gravesend in Kent but has now settled in Eastbourne. |

Gemma Hopkins, BVetMed, MRCVS.
Gemma has writtain her entry for me:- "My name is Gemma Hopkins, I graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in July 2003, since then I have worked in a very busy small animal practice in Kent. I have a very cute black and white cat called "Gabby" who was originally a rescue cat. |

Phillip Speer BVetMed, MRCVS.
I qualified at London University in 2001 and joined the practice in April 2002. I have enrolled for the RCVS Certificate in Small Animal Medicine. I have no pets of my own but have half adopted Jay the practice cat and often dog sit for Woody Harris. |

Hetty Pullan
I originally achieved an HND in Applied Biology at Southbank Polytechnic before going on to train as a Veterinary Nurse at the Royal Veterinary College (London). I then trained as a vet and qualified from the RVC (London) in 2000. Initially I worked at the RSPCA, Putney, during the filming of ‘Animal Hospital’ and subsequently went on to a small animal job in North Kent where I worked for over five years before coming to St. Anne’s. I passed the General Practice Certificate in Small Animal Practice (GPcert(SAP)) last year and enjoy all aspects of small animal practice and ophthalmology in particular. I am married to Mark and have a large and lovely ex stray cat called Henry. My outside interests include going to the gym, cycling, horse riding, watching tennis, playing the piano and flute, and socialising. |

Peter Allen MA Vet MB MRCVS (Equine & farm work only)
Peter qualified at Cambridge University in 1970 and joined the practice in 1972. In 1975 the practice was split into a small animal side and a large animal side; Peter took over the large animal side and, since then, has run it as a seperate business. |

VETERINARY NURSES.
I had intended to include all of the pets owned by our nurses until I counted them. They have a multitude of dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, hamsters, chinchillas, tortoises, and bearded dragons. I suppose this is why they like being veterinary nurses! |

Helen Overington, VN.
Helen has recently returned to work with us on a full time basis and has taken over as our head nurse. I joined the practice in 1994 as a trainee and qualified in 1997. I am a volunteer for the British Divers Marine Life Rescue. |

Hazel Sheppard, VN.
Hazel is our deputy head nurse and is in charge of the theatre and in-patients. She joined the practice in 1992 and qulified in 1995. She is married with two dogs and two cats. Hazel is currently on maternity leave having given birth to a baby girl called Isabel Molly. |

Janine Houghton, VN.
Janine joined the practice in 1988, trained with us and qualified as a nurse in 1991. She is married with two daughters, a dog, two cats, and a rabbit. Janine is a qualified assessor, this means that she is able to assess nurses training for their NVQ's. Janine has just rejoined us having been on maternity leave. |

Philip Harris,VN.
Philip qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in 2004 having trained with us. Although there are many male veterinary nurses, Philip has the distinction of being the first at St Anne's.

Natalie Weston, VN.
I originally joined the practice as a part time kennel maid. In 2002 I started full time as a Trainee Veterinary Nurse and qualified in 2006. I have recently started taking nurse consultations and am interested in weight clinics and puppy parties. I have a very naughty Labrador called Sam, two cats, and recently rescued a cuddly ginger kitten. |

Glynnis Wootton, VN.
Glynnis joined the practice in 1992 and qualified in 1995. Glynnis is now involved in reception and nurse consultations in the evening and on Saturdays. Glynnis is currently on maternity leave and has just given birth to a baby boy .. Evan Rees. |

Sarah Golding,VN.
Sarah joined us in 2000. She completed her NVQ in veterinary nursing and qualified as a VN in January 2004. Congratulations to Sarah. Sarah has now qualified as an assessor so that she can assess our trainee nurses, once again congratulations She is currently studying canine and feline behaviour as a correspondence course and hopes to gain her qualification in 2007. She has two cats, and two rabbits.. In the picture Sarah is on the left with Menna holding the fox. |

Natalie Harris.
I joined the practice in 2000 as a trainee. I have a dog, called Woody and four cats, Cobi, Mali, Dylan and Toulouse. I enjoy horse riding and walking my dog on the downs. My parents own a restaurant and tea gardens in Jevington called ‘Gibby's’. |

Menna Field
Menna joined us in August 2003 as a trainee veterinary nurse. She has had experience as a trainee veterinary nurse before she joined us. Menna spends one day a week at Plumpton College. Menna has two rescued cats, Dylan and Archie, who were abandoned as kittens, and a rabbit. Menna is on the left in the picture holding the rabbit, Emily(on the right) has left the Practice to follow her husband who moved location. I have used this picture as I thought that is was a good collection of staff animals and a good photo of Menna. |

Nicola Ranger.
Nicola joined us in 2003 as a trainee veterinary nurse having worked in the Brighton PDSA clinic. Nicola received her Animal Nursing Assistant qualification in July 2004 from Plumpton College. She is currently a 1st year trainee. Nic has a cat called Socks and a rabbit called Molly. |

Rebecca Pynn.
Rebecca joined us as a trainee veterinary nurse in 2005. She is not a newcomer to veterinary nursing as she has previously worked for another Veterinary Practice in this area. Rebecca has three dogs and a cat. |

Marie Gunter.
Marie joined us in April 2006 as a trainee veterinary nurse. She has worked in Eastbourne for a while - so is not "fresh out of school". Marie lives near Newhaven and worked in a veterinary practice in Seaford on a voluntary basis, this experience made her realise that she wanted to become a veterinary nurse. She has a cat and a house rabbit. |

Katie Grinyer.
I joined the practice in September 2006 as a trainee veterinary nurse. I have already completed my National Diploma in Animal Care at Plumpton College and will be returning in September 2007 to begin my veterinary nurse training. |

Sarah-Jane Wicks.
Sarah Jane joined us in June 2006 as a trainee veterinary nurse. She attended Plumpton Agricultural College from 1999 - 2000 and has a First Diploma in Animal Care. She lists "really enjoying horse riding" as one of her interests. She has a cat and two rabbits. |

Nicole Prescott
Nicole started with us as a part-time kennel person, she has now joined us full-time as a trainee vetrinary nurse. |

Richard Thompson.
Richard has joined us as a trainee vererinary nurse. He was previously working at Drusillas' Zoo. |

Cicely Johnson.
Cicley joined the practice in 1984. She is one of our Langney receptionists, but has in the past also been at the Willingdon branch. |

Alison Hague.
Alison joined the Practice in 1986. She is usualy at the main surgery but is occationally at the branches. Alison is also a graphic artist and has produced the practice logo and house style. Congratulations to Alison who qualified last year, with honours, as an Animal Nursing Assistant from Plumpton College. |

June Phillips.
June joined the practice in 1990 and works at St Anne's Road. |

Carol O'Driscoll.
Carol is at our Langney branch and dovetails with Cicely. She has been with us since 2000. |

Katrina Fry.
Katrina joined us from a practice in Forest Row and has been at the main branch at St Anne's since 2001. Katrina is on maternity leave following the birth of her little boy called Kendal. |

Jackie Lucas.
Jackie covers the afternoon surgery at Willingdon and also is at the Langney surgery in the evenings. She has been with us since 2002. Jackie is married and has a young son, William, who is now at school. |
|
Anna Fairweather.
Anna joined us as a receptionist at St Anne's in February 2005. Anna has been involved in customer services in a local organisation for the past 12 years and is also Secretary of the Eastbourne & District Dog Training Club. She has three dogs and trains them in obedience and agility. |

PRACTICE ADMINISTRATION.

Sheila Mace.
Sheila has been with us since 1989. She started as a receptionist at St Anne's road but moved into the office. She is now responsible for financial side of the practice. |
|
Pauline Hollands.
Pauline ran her own trimming business "Shaggy Dogs" from St Anne's for several years. She moved over to the office as administrator and Jim's P.A. in 2001. |
|

George Kemp.
George joined us in 1997 to take some of the cleaning load off the trainees. He is now to be seen around Eastbourne behind the wheel of our ambulance. |

KENNEL STAFF.

Daniel Goodman.
Daniel has joined us in October '07 as our second kennel person. He is well known within the Practice as he has been with us on "work experience" from school. |
